Mechanical Design Engineer

Reports to: Engineering Supervisor

Location: Aberdeen, UK

Closing Date: 26/12/2019

We are looking for Mechanical Design Engineer to support the engineering department, prioritising conflicting workloads and requirements. You will be involved in evaluating the viability of potential products, delivering complex projects and milestones to within schedule and budget. You will be working with all departments to ensure business is supported.

Key responsibilities will include the following:

  • The management and delivery of Unity Engineering projects;
  • Creation, development and support of Unity Technology;
  • Preparing component part and assembly 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings in alignment with department and industry standards;
  • Design and review of new and existing Unity products;
  • Performing Engineering/mathematical analysis at component and assembly level;
  • Performing tolerance studies at assembly level;
  • Test activities to verify equipment designs in accordance with procedures and industry standards;
  • Design, test and deployment of Unity Technology both onshore and offshore;
  • Liaising with clients in order to support the development of design solutions;
  • Making engineering cost and delivery estimates for development of existing products in order to create realistic project cost targets;
  • Writing technical documents and specifications for new and existing products;
  • Supporting handover of new technology / equipment to Operations department.

Job knowledge and experience

Essential:

  • Degree qualified in relevant field (mechanical, product, electro-mechanical engineering/design).
  • Engineering experience in mechanical, hydraulic-mechanical and / or electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work under pressure.
  • Experience with rapid turnaround on projects.
  • Good working knowledge of 3D CAD modelling and drafting systems (Solid works).
  • High level of mathematical capability to perform and verify design calculations.
  • Ability to provide engineering solutions to client problems.
  • Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred:

  • Engineering experience in wellhead / x-mas tree / surface equipment or process equipment design.
  • Workshop / hands-on experience.
  • Offshore experience and willing to work offshore (if and when required to support new technology) and has in date BOSIET, MIST and medical certificate suitable for travel and work offshore.
